About Heather Moore
I am a fully qualified specialist teacher registered with the British Dyslexia Society (BDA) with AMBDA status, and a full member of PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties). I am also a member of The Dyslexia Guild and hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC).
With 30 years’ experience in education as an English teacher, specialist teacher in dyslexia, specialist teacher in autism (AET Level 3) and Assistant Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), I have a wide range of experience and knowledge in working with children, young people and schools through assessment, advice, tutoring and staff training. I pride myself on my ability to build self-esteem and instil confidence in students for whom traditional classroom learning can be a challenge, enabling them to develop strategies and reach their potential.
“Our 6-year-old son has been supported by Heather for the last academic year. He was using various short cuts to form cursive letters which was making his handwriting illegible.
Whilst he enjoyed reading, he was quick to feel frustrated due to challenges decoding unfamiliar words and tracking text. He is now able to read his own handwriting, which has been a big confidence boost and is unlocking his spelling and creative writing. He’s developed the tools which enable him to seek out more challenging books, but most importantly he is incredibly happy and engaged by his tutoring sessions.
He was quick to insist the session length be increased to an hour, and he can’t wait to share what he’s been working on and the progress he’s making. He willingly engages with his homework on Nessy and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Heather and her fun, inspiring, and confidence building services.”
